Dear Sea Pines property owners,
Earlier this week, I communicated that the CSA Board of Directors voted to pursue a simple referendum to increase the residential property owners’ annual assessment as our primary source for long-term critical infrastructure funding. Over the course of this month, the CSA Board read your emails, comments and questions concerning our decision to pursue a Special Tax District – we heard you loud and clear. And since our decision to hold a simple referendum, the Board has been excited to receive renewed feedback of enthusiastic support for the $600 assessment increase – illustrating a spark of light at the end of the infrastructure funding tunnel.
Additionally, the Resort has voiced its desire to support the community by participating in this referendum, and I am pleased to report it has agreed to increase its assessment by an additional 25 basis points starting in 2022, representing a 50% increase in its annual assessment obligation. We are also continuing to work with commercial property owners on their contribution so that we can finalize the referendum terms and announce a ballot date at the November 17 Board meeting. Our goal is to hold a successful referendum in December.
