Critical Infrastructure Project Updates

Otter Road/Fawn Lane Infrastructure Improvement Project:

  • A planned water outage will occur on Tuesday, March 17, from approximately 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. South Island Public Service District (SIPSD) has confirmed that this water outage will impact all homes on Otter Road. Please note that other homes in the project area may also experience water service interruptions.
  • Crews continue excavating and installing stormwater drainage pipes (pictured), with temporary asphalt patching underway in completed sections. Traffic detours and flagging operations continue to be in place.
Sea Pines Drive Roadway Repairs: Asphalt roadway repairs along North and South Sea Pines Drive are in progress and may continue into next week. Motorists should expect traffic delays, alternating single-lane closures, and possible detours throughout the duration of the project.

Wildlife Safety: Alligators

With the arrival of warmer weather, alligators will become more active. Please remember the below safety precautions regarding alligators in our community:

  • Assume every body of water contains an alligator
  • Stay at least 60 feet (4 car lengths) away from alligators
  • Alligators are ambush predators and can move faster than you or your pets
  • Keep yourself, pets and children away from water’s edge
  • Swimming or wading is prohibited in Sea Pines’ waterways
  • Feeding or harassing alligators is dangerous and illegal
  • When fishing or crabbing do not throw used bait or fish parts into the water

Digital Guide to Living with Alligators: Click here to view/print. To report an aggressive or nuisance alligator or to report any safety concerns regarding alligators, please immediately contact Sea Pines Security at 843.671.7170.

Stormwater Maintenance & Repair: Ditch cleanout at 15 Audubon Pond Road is in progress and will continue through next week.

Tree Care Management:

  • Annual tree trimming along Sea Pines CSA-managed Beachwalks is nearing completion. While the beachwalks will stay open, we kindly ask pedestrians and cyclists to exercise caution and pay close attention to the flagmen present on-site.
  • Next week, leisure trail tree trimming will begin at Fraser Circle and then along Lighthouse Road towards North Sea Pines Drive.

Town of Hilton Head Island Beach Renourishment Project Update

The Town of Hilton Head Island’s beach renourishment project will begin mobilizing along Sea Pines’ shoreline next week. Their contractor, Marinex Construction, Inc., will begin activities to renourish sections of beach from Beach Marker 8 near Beachside Drive to Beach Marker 27 near Surf Scoter Road.

What to expect:

  • The team will first land a dredge discharge line near Beach Marker 16, in the vicinity of Belted Kingfisher and Bald Eagle Roads.
  • Operations will run 24 hours per day and include extending pipe along the beach, pumping sand, and using machinery to spread and grade sand to renourish the beach.
  • Work will progress northward from Beach Marker 16 to Beach Marker 27 first, then reposition to move south from Beach Marker 16 to Beach Marker 8.
  • The project is expected to be completed no later than May 31, 2026.
