Roadway Pavement Coring Conducted Along Sea Pines Drive From Light House Road to Audubon Pond Road
This past week, CSA staff and our geotechnical engineer, conducted pavement coring field work along Sea Pines Drive from Lighthouse Road to Audubon Pond Road. Pavement coring involves the extraction of road-based materials and sub-soil samples for laboratory testing and analysis.
Testing is an essential part of roadway construction to help determine the strength of the bond between base layers, assess the drainage characteristics of the pavement and help establish the life expectancy of the roadway. The samples are being sent off to the lab for testing and the results will provide our staff and Engineer with important information as we continue to plan for the infrastructure improvement of this section of roadway.
