Lighthouse Road Project Information

 

Project Details:
This project will address necessary infrastructure repairs along Lighthouse Road from Plantation Drive to Harbour Town. It will address drainage work, curb repairs, realignment of crosswalks and road resurfacing along this area of roadway within Sea Pines.

Project Timeline:
This project began Monday, October 14th, 2019 and is expected to take 12 weeks, weather permitting. Expected project completion: February 2020, weather permitting.

Traffic Plan and Information:
Road signage, silt fencing, and tree protection have been installed along the project work zone and will remain in place through the project completion. During this project, traffic will alternate lanes with flag persons, as the drainage work will take place in the roadway.

Project Updates:

  • 3/30/2020-
    • Landscaping operations along will continue, weather permitting.
    • Please use caution while driving in these work areas.
  • 3/23/2020-
    • Landscaping operations along Lighthouse Road will continue, weather permitting.
    • Please use caution while driving in these work areas.
  • 3/13/2020-
    • Landscaping operations will occur the week of March 16th, weather permitting.
    • Please use caution while driving in these work areas.
  • 3/6/2020-
    • Weather permitting, paving operations on Lighthouse Road will be completed Monday, March 9th – Tuesday, March 10th.
    • Stamping crosswalks, roadway grading, landscaping, roadway reflectors, final striping, etc. work will continue once the final pavement is installed.
    • Motorists should expect traffic delays through the construction area and are asked to use caution. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 2/28/2020-
    • The contractor will be onsite working Saturday, February 29th, weather permitting.
    • Paving operations will begin Monday, March 2nd, weather permitting.
    • Motorists should expect traffic delays through the construction area. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
    • Paving operations will continue nearest the Plantation Drive and Lighthouse Road intersections. Please avoid this area if possible.
  • 2/21/2020-
    • Work will be taking place on Saturday, February 22nd, weather permitting.
    • Next week: Drainage work, curb repairs and leisure trail repairs will continue, weather permitting. Paving operations will take place beginning Monday, February 24th, weather permitting.
    • Motorists should expect traffic delays through the construction area. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 2/14/2020-
    • Drainage work and leisure trail repairs continue next week, weather permitting.
    • Work will be taking place on Saturday, February 15th, weather permitting.
    • Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area closest to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 2/12/2020-Water Outage Planned on 2/13/20-Near Marriott Harbour Club from 8:30 AM-11:30 AM:
    • As part of our roadway construction project on Lighthouse Road, we will need to shut down the potable water line in proximity to the Marriott Harbour Club on Thursday morning February 13th, between 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
    • Please be advised, this temporary water shutdown will affect the Marriott Harbour Club, CQ’s, and Deer Island residents. Other surrounding areas may also be affected by this water outage and may include The Harbour Town Bakery, the businesses and shops in and near the Harbour Yacht Basin as well as Schooner Court. The reclaimed water system will remain operational during this time.
    Milling operations underway on Lighthouse Road
    • Milling operations on Lighthouse Road (From Plantation Dr. to Harbour Town) began today (2/12) and will continue through next week, weather permitting. Milling operations are starting at the intersection of Plantation Drive and Lighthouse Road and will work towards Harbour Town.
    • Bikers and pedestrians should be aware of the leisure trail construction work, and are asked to please dismount their bikes in the project area and yield to flag persons
    • Motorists should expect traffic delays from Plantation Drive to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
    • Expected project completion: End of February, weather permitting.
  • 2/7/2020- Drainage, roadway, leisure trail construction and curb repairs will continue next week, weather permitting. Construction work will be taking place on Saturday, February 8th, weather permitting. Bikers and pedestrians need to aware of the leisure trail construction work, possibly having to dismount their bikes and yield to flag persons.  Motorists should expect traffic delays from Plantation Drive to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 1/31/20- Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue next week, weather permitting. Work will be taking place on Saturday, February 1st, weather permitting. Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area closest to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 1/24/20- Work will be taking place on Saturday, January 25th, weather permitting. Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue next week, weather permitting. Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area closest to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 1/17/20- Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue next week, weather permitting. Work will be taking place on the holiday, Monday, January 20th, weather permitting. Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area closest to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic.
  • 1/10/20– Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue next week, weather permitting. Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area closest to Harbour Town. Flag persons will be present as needed to control traffic. Crews will be on-site Saturday, January 11, 2020 conducting work.
  • 1/8/20- Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue this week, weather permitting. Traffic delays are expected while work is taking place
  • 1/3/20-Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue next week, weather permitting. Minor traffic delays are expected while work is taking place.
  • 12/20/19– Drainage, road work and curb repairs continue next week, weather permitting. No work will occur on December 24th and 25th
  • 12/17/19– Drainage work continues in proximity to Deer Island Road and curb repairs are underway. Traffic delays are expected while work is taking place.
  • 12/13/19- Drainage work continues in proximity to Deer Island Road. Curb repairs to take place in some areas the week of December 16th. Traffic delays are expected while work is taking place.
  • 12/10/19-This week crews are working in the roadway on Lighthouse Road near Deer Island Road. Traffic will alternate lanes with flag persons present. Traffic delays are expected while work is taking place.
  • 12/6/19- Crews are working in the roadway today on Lighthouse Road near the Marriott and will resume this work following the weekend. Crews will not be working this weekend (12/7 or 12/8)
  • 12/3/19 – Our contractor will be working in the roadway in proximity to Lighthouse Lane and the Harbour Town Bakery. This work will occur over the next few days. Traffic control will be in place.
  • 11/22/19 – Our contractor will be working Saturday, November 23rd, in the Harbour Town area, weather permitting.
