Sea Pines CSA has identified approximately 1.3 miles of North Sea Pines Drive from the Sea Pines Ocean Gate to the Lighthouse Road intersection to undergo extensive storm water drainage repairs and road resurfacing in 2020 and 2021.

The project is currently out to bid and will be executed in two (2) phases. Phase 1 (storm water, roadway and leisure trail improvements) are expected to take place from December of 2020- March 2021 and Phase 2 (road resurfacing) is expected to take place from September-December 2021.

Background on North Sea Pines Drive:

• The roadway, infrastructure, and leisure trails from Ocean Gate to the Lighthouse Road intersection are in need of redesign, repairs and reconstruction.
• Sea Pines Drive is the oldest roadway in all of Sea Pines. The useful life of this roadway the volume of traffic had exceeded the initial design and construction.
• Numerous stormwater failures have occurred along this section of roadway and the adjacent streets due to the condition of the system. This is largely due to the deteriorating corrugated metal and orangeburg pipes throughout the system.

Project Details:

Phase 1: Anticipated to begin the week of December 1, 2020, and completed by February/March 2021, weather permitting, to address drainage improvements in preparation for Phase 2. CSA will be reaching out to property owners who live within the project zone to communicate how they will be impacted by this work and we will to update the community on our traffic management plan.

Phase 2: Expected to begin in September 2021 and be completed by the end of 2021. The improvements will include stabilizing, realigning, and resurfacing of the roadway and leisure trails within the project area.

11/25/2020 – Beginning the week of December 1, weather permitting, Sea Pines CSA will begin Phase 1 of the North Sea Pines Drive Reconstruction Project, along North Sea Pines Drive, from the Lighthouse Road Intersection to Red Cardinal Road. The first step in this project is the installation of erosion control and tree protection and is not anticipated to cause any major disruption in traffic.
