Tropical Storm Warning and Storm Surge Watch Issued for our Area

A Tropical Storm Warning means tropical storm-force winds are expected somewhere within this area within the next 36 hours.

A Storm Surge Watch means rising water moving inland from the coastline, is possible somewhere within this area within the next 48 hours.

Overview:

Tropical Storm Nicole will make landfall in Florida tonight, then will recurve northeast Thursday. Nicole should then gradually weaken as it passes just inland of our region Thursday night into Friday.

Multiple hazards will extend well north and east of Nicole`s center. Significant coastal flooding is expected with the high tides this evening and Thursday morning, with minor coastal flooding possible Friday morning as well. Also, locally excessive rainfall is

possible, especially Thursday and Thursday night. A few tornadoes could occur Thursday afternoon into Friday. Tropical storm force wind gusts could bring down scattered trees and tree limbs, particularly along the immediate coast. Finally, expect dangerous marine and surf conditions as well as significant beach erosion.
