Sea Pines Forest Preserve Day of Discovery: Saturday, October 18th

Sea Pines property owners and their family/guests are invited to celebrate the natural beauty of the Forest Preserve at the FREE Day of Discovery event! Choose either a Morning Session (9:30-11:30 AM) or Afternoon Session (4:00-6:00 PM), then pick your own adventure by adding on activities like nature boat rides, hay wagon rides, carriage rides, guided nature walks, shell ring history session, photography walks, kids fishing, and scavenger hunts.

Some activities are ongoing and welcome drop-ins, while others have limited capacity and require reservations—or register for event admission to enjoy the preserve at your leisure with friends and family. Morning attendees will enjoy welcome drinks, donuts, and a hot dog lunch, while afternoon guests can enjoy an evening campfire with s’mores (BYOB) and a night walk. in the Forest Preserve. Register early as space is limited for this exclusive Sea Pines Property owner event!

Critical Infrastructure Project Updates

Otter Road/Fawn Lane Infrastructure Improvement Project:

  • Well-pointing and dewatering operations (lowering groundwater levels to provide more stable working conditions) were installed in proximity to Possum Lane.
  • Stormwater drainage pipe excavation and installation will continue next week.

Phase 3 of the Lighthouse Lane Infrastructure Improvement Project:

Both projects involve heavy construction equipment, temporary lane closures, traffic detours, and potential utility disruptions during work hours (M-F; 7AM-7PM). Please visit the project pages for detailed maps, traffic management information, and ongoing updates.


Maintenance Projects & Services

Stormwater Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Stormwater drainage pipe repairs near 2 Deer Run Road and at Beach Walk #45 are in progress and will continue through next week.

Tree Care Management:

  • Leisure trail tree trimming along Greenwood Drive is in progress and will continue through next week.

Seasonal Mosquito Control Program:

  • Weather permitting, our next mosquito treatment will take place on Monday, October 6, during overnight hours. For more information on this service please click here.

SAVE THE DATE: 14TH ANNUAL SEA PINES FOREST PRESERVE BONFIRE EVENT: Bring your family and friends to enjoy an evening under the stars, surrounded by the natural beauty of the forest preserve on Friday, November 14th from 4:30-7:30 PM. This outdoor event will feature live music, a silent auction, and a delicious Lowcountry-inspired menu created by The Salty Dog Cafe. Your ticket includes an open bar along with a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets will go on sale Thursday, October 9th at 4:00 PM and will be available only online via Eventbrite.

News from Around the Community

Upcoming South Island PSD Sewer System Inspections in Sea Pines: Please be advised of upcoming sewer system maintenance work in our community, conducted by South Island PSD, mainly along South Sea Pines Drive, over the next several weeks:

  • Manhole Inspections: Beginning the week of October 6th, a two-person field crew will conduct manhole inspections throughout Sea Pines. Work will take place Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (weather permitting) and is expected to last 1-1.5 weeks. The crew will use a pickup truck and small camera equipment with no large machinery onsite.
  • Smoke Testing: Following the manhole inspections, smoke testing of the sewer system will begin on Monday, October 20th. Property owners will receive advance notice via email on October 6th, with field crews distributing door-to-door notices on October 15th and 16th. Testing will occur Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM (weather permitting) for approximately two weeks. The smoke used is odorless, non-toxic, and safe.
