I hope you all are enjoying a beautiful start to the spring season in Sea Pines. Our Sea Pines CSA Board, Committees and Task Forces have started the season off on the right foot and are diligently working on various initiatives and improvement projects for our community.
I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you some information that can potentially affect all of us here at Sea Pines by greatly improving the infrastructure and traffic flow into our community. Beaufort County Council is considering placing a Transportation Sales and Use Tax Referendum question on the November 2024 ballot. The question will ask the electorate to approve a 1% sales tax in Beaufort County beginning the following year and lasting for a period of 15 years. Currently, the county’s sales tax stands at 7%. By replacing the expiring Green Space Tax, this new sales tax would keep it at 7% overall. Funds raised through this tax would directly impact Sea Pines and nearby areas by allocating funds for improvements to include the Sea Pines Circle and adjacent corridors.
I encourage you to explore this topic and, if you support the proposal, reach out to our County Council representative, Thomas Reitz, to voice your support. Councilman Reitz can be contacted via email at thomas.reitz@bcgov.net.
The next Beaufort County Council Meeting is scheduled for March 25, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Given the potential impact of this proposal on our community, neighbors, and possibly our properties, I urge you to get involved.
Sincerely, |
