Completion of Lagoon Gate Replacement Project

We are pleased to announce the completion of a major lagoon infrastructure improvement project conducted in coordination with the Town of Hilton Head Island.

Between late October and mid-January, 11 lagoon gates were replaced at six critical outfall locations throughout the community. The replaced gates had surpassed their useful life and were no longer functioning properly.

With the new gates now in place, Sea Pines CSA has improved capability to manage lagoon water levels more effectively, including the ability to drain critical waterways ahead of major storm events and prevent tidal water from entering the lagoon system during higher tide conditions.

Despite the scope of work, disruption to the community was minimal. The total cost of the project was nearly $700,000, and all project costs will be reimbursed by the Town of Hilton Head Island. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Town for their partnership on this important stormwater infrastructure improvement.
