Board of Directors Elections

Candidate Information:

I was born in New York City and educated in the public schools of Shaker Heights, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. After college at Princeton and law school at Harvard, I returned to Cleveland to practice law at a large law firm as a federal income tax and local government lawyer.After 38 years, I retired and moved to Atlanta as a trailing spouse to direct the Georgia chapter of Common Cause, a non-profit focusing on campaign finance reform and ethics in government.

For 16 years during my law practice, I served in elective local government office, the first 8 on the Shaker Heights City Council and the last 8 as Mayor.

I am now completing 4 years on the Hilton Head Island Town Council, which was preceded by 2 years on the Town Planning Commission.

I have been a Sea Pines property owner for 24 years. During that time, I spent 17 years on CSA committees dealing with safety and maintenance; 6 years as an officer/board member of the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina; and 4 years as president of the Kickin Asphalt Bicycle Club.

Why I Wish to Serve the Sea Pines Community:

I have been heavily invested in Sea Pines since I bought my first condo in the South Beach area in 2002. That meant serving on CSA committees for 17 consecutive years. It also included six years as chairperson of my home owners’ association at my South Beach condo, as well as nine years as one of three trustees of my current HOA in the Club Course area.

More recently, I have served in Town Hall for six years, first on the Town Planning Commission and then four years on Town Council as the Sea Pines representative.

I believe I have acquired a lot of knowledge, understanding, experience, and skills that could be very helpful to CSA.

Candidate Information:

My wife Jane, an Artist, and I are from St. Louis. We purchased our Sea Pines home in 2008 and became full time residents in 2020. We have two married children and five grandkids. My education includes a BA, MBA, MHA, and an MA.

After over 40 years as a health care executive, I retired as President and CEO of a $1.5B health system and became a founding partner of Medically Home, a company we sold to Mayo Health. I have served on over 40 Boards of hospitals, health systems, and non-profit organizations.

Despite no Commercial interests, I was appointed a Class “B” Member of the CSA Board in 2018. I have served as Vice Chair of the Board for over 5 years and member of the Executive Committee. Previously chaired the Safety and Governance Committees.

My other interests include travel, music, golf, cooking, gardening and history.

Why I Wish to Serve the Sea Pines Community:

I wish to continue to serve to help make our community even better. I want to do my part to align the interests of Residential Property Owners, Renters, The Sea Pines Resort, Commercial Enterprises, our Visitors and SPCSA. I want to do my part to ensure the SPCSA Board continues to act in the mutual benefit of our entire Community and advance the common good.

I have a strong background in governance and executive leadership. I have come to value and appreciate even more the specialness of the Sea Pines Community and the need to continuously improve what we have to secure our investments in our homes, our businesses and our community.

Candidate Information:

Dave Schoettmer is the founder of Navigator Management Partners, a management and IT consulting firm specializing in process optimization, organizational change, and enterprise applications for HR, finance, and academic solutions. Since its founding in 2001, Schoettmer has managed the growth of the firm into a key service provider to leading commercial and education & government organizations across the US. The firm has received repeated recognition for its commercial growth, being a Best Place to Work, and its commitment to corporate philanthropy. In 2019 Navigator merged with Avaap, where Schoettmer remains as Board Director.

Mr. Schoettmer holds a BS in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from the University of Dayton, as well as an MBA from The Ohio State University. Individual recognitions include Ohio State’s Young Professional Achievement award and EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year award among others.

Why I Wish to Serve the Sea Pines Community:

Dave Schoettmer is married to Laura, a parent to Greta and Erich, and alpha to two labrador retrievers, Sugar and Augie. We love our time in Sea Pines and are motivated to retain its beauty, the property value for our neighbors, and to keep the local alligator residents away from the pooches(!). Dave ran for election in 2024 and received substantial support. After a board member retirement, he was appointed to the open position and is now running for election.

I hope to continue on the board to advance a new project intended to improve traffic flow and gate operations at the Sea Pines gates. Also, I would like to continue my push to streamline the footprint of ARB to balance the protection of our beautiful sanctuary while also reducing delay, cost, and completion of landscape and building projects.

Candidate Information:

I am a mother, grandmother, and wife with a 50-plus-year career. I grew up in Geneva, NY. I earned a BA in psychology from Connecticut College and an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. My finance career began at EY, where I earned my CPA. I eventually became CFO of several major companies.

My husband and I raised 3 daughters – a surgeon, a venture capitalist, and a communications expert. We first visited HHI in 1986 and became Sea Pines property owners in 2014, putting our house on the STR market until 2021, when it became our primary residence.

I am currently a director/advisor for public companies, a trustee of both my alma maters, a current CSA director, and a member of the CSA Finance Committee. My recognitions include Institutional Investor’s Best CFO, FEI’s CFO of the Year, and URI’s Alum of the Year. 

Why I Wish to Serve the Sea Pines Community:

Three years ago, I asked Sea Pines property owners for the opportunity to serve on the CSA Board. When I won election, I embraced my new duties.

As a CSA Director and seven-year Finance Committee member, I have helped oversee significant infrastructure investments and promoted sound financial management. If reelected, I will focus on disciplined long-term infrastructure planning and rigorous stewardship of property-owner dollars.

I will also continue to promote open, two-way communication with property owners through initiatives such as in-person Town Halls, which I helped initiate for 2027. I am currently working with our finance/accounting team to use technology and AI to improve efficiency and financial analysis.

My goal is straightforward: preserve what makes Sea Pines special, plan responsibly for its future, listen to our community, and ensure that Sea Pines remains financially strong and well-maintained for generations to come.
