South Sea Pines Drive Infrastructure Repair Project Planned for Fall 2023
Phase 4 of the Sea Pines Drive infrastructure repair project is scheduled to begin early September 2023 with an estimated completion time of Spring 2024. To learn more about the earlier phases of the project please click here.
March 18, 2024 Update with Russell Fredericks
Project work zones will include the below roadways:
- South Sea Pines Drive from Baynard Cove Road to Gadwall Road
- Scaulp Court – Drainage construction and resurfacing/paving of roadway
Please note, due to the nature of major infrastructure improvement work, unplanned water and or utility outages may occur.
Project work along South Sea Pines Drive will include:
- Stormwater drainage upgrades and replacement
- Roadway resurfacing and realigning
- Realignment and widening of leisure trails
- Addition of pedestrian crosswalks and curbing in select areas
- New signage installation, tree work, and minor landscaping

COMMUNITY UPDATES:
6/24/24 – We went down to South Sea Pines Drive to capture and share some of the recent enhancements in the area!
The fourth phase of the Sea Pines Drive Infrastructure Improvement Project involved replacing and upgrading stormwater drainage, resurfacing and realigning roadways, widening and realigning leisure trails, installing pedestrian crosswalks and curbing, and adding new signage and landscaping.
May 2024: Phase 4 of the South Sea Pines Drive Infrastructure Improvement Project from Baynard Cove Road to Gadwall Road is nearing completion.
- Roadway line striping and installation of road reflectors along South Sea Pines Drive is in progress and will continue through this week.
- Site cleanup, associated construction and restoration, is in progress. Single-lane road closures and traffic control will be in place as needed.

3/28/24 – Major roadway work along South Sea Pines Drive from Baynard Cove to Gadwall Road is in progress and will continue through next week. Expect heavy traffic
delays, detours and single lane closures.
- Roadway milling, asphalt patching, leisure trail paving, and grading operations are in progress.
- Roadway paving operations to begin on Monday, April 1 and continue through Wednesday, April 3, weather permitting.
- Crews will also be applying temporary line striping to the paved roadway and will return after the necessary curing period to complete permanent line striping and install roadway reflectors.
- Please use caution while driving in this area and observe the work zone speed limit of 15 mph and obey all traffic management personnel, signage and devices.
- Scaup Court: Roadway paving operations began today and will continue on Tuesday, April 2, weather permitting.
3/21/24 – Major roadway and leisure trail construction along South Sea Pines Drive from Baynard Cove to Gadwall Road in progress. Be sure to watch the March 18th video update with our Director of Capital Projects, Russell Fredericks.
- Leisure trail paving operations are in progress.
- Roadway milling operations began today, March 21st. Asphalt paving operations scheduled for next week, weather permitting.

Leisure trail users are encouraged to avoid the project area during this time, as cyclists will be required to dismount and walk bikes around the work zone. - Motorists should expect traffic delays and be prepared for traffic detours to South Beach Lane.
- Motorists should be prepared to share the road with bikers and pedestrians.

Stormwater drainage work along Scaup Court has been rescheduled to begin the week of February 26th and will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

December 20, 2023 – South Sea Pines Drive Infrastructure Improvement Project: Temporary roadway and leisure trail paving operations began this week along South Sea Pines Drive near Belted Kingfisher (pictured).

December 2023 – Major stormwater drainage work along South Sea Pines Drive from Audubon Pond Road to Gadwall Road is in progress and is scheduled to continue over the next few weeks.
- Project work includes stormwater drain pipe excavation and replacement, asphalt milling, and temporary roadway paving repairs.
- Due to the nature of major infrastructure improvement work, unplanned water and or utility outages in the work zone may occur.
- Well-pointing and dewatering operations (lowering groundwater levels to provide more stable working conditions) will be in place.
- This week, the lagoon near Lagoon Villas – situated between Scaup Court and Wren Drive – will be temporarily lowered to facilitate project work.

11/28/23 – Planned Water Outage Alert: 11/29 from 9AM-3PM for Homes on Bald Eagle Rd W and 75 S Sea Pines Dr
A planned water outage will occur tomorrow, Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from approximately 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, as South Island Public Service District (SIPSD) crews conduct the removal and replacement of stormwater drainage pipes along South Sea Pines Drive.
SIPSD has determined this water outage will affect all homes located on Bald Eagle Road West and #75 South Sea Pines Drive.
Please be advised that additional homes may be affected and Sea Pines CSA will keep you as up-to-date as possible with information provided by SIPSD through our website at www.SeaPinesLiving.com.

Next week (the week of November 27th), stormwater drainage work is planned to continue along South Sea Pines Drive from Audubon Pond Road to Gadwall Road.

- Please note, due to the nature of major infrastructure improvement work, unplanned water and or utility outages in the work zone may occur.
- Well-pointing and dewatering operations (lowering groundwater levels to provide more stable working conditions) will be in place.
- Single-lane road closures and flagging operations will be in place.

Tree Work Rescheduled for the Week of September 18th

- Single-lane road closures and flagging operations will be in place.
- Temporary leisure trail closures for pedestrians and bikers will be in place within work zones.
- Motorists should expect traffic delays. Please use caution while driving in this area, obey speed limits, and share the Road with bikers and pedestrians.
8/31/23 –
Due to Tropical Storm Idalia, the start of the South Sea Pines Drive Infrastructure Project has been delayed. Timing on when work will resume is based on storm clean up and recovery efforts.
8/24/23-
Project Mobilization begins the Week of August 28th
- Project equipment, supplies and materials will be stored in the South Beach Marina parking lot in preparation of the project start date.
South Sea Pines Drive Survey Work to Begin August 30th
- Survey work will take place on South Sea Pines Drive from Baynard Cove Road to Gadwall Road.
- Underground utility line locations will be marked by USIC. Please do not remove flag markers or markings.
- No traffic delays or detours are expected.
Tree Work Planned for the Week of September 5th
- Tree work along South Sea Pines Drive (from Baynard Cove Road to Gadwall Road) will begin the week of September 5th and take 1-2 weeks to complete.
