Class “A” Residential Board Member

Tom earned a BS in Civil Engineering from CWRU and an MBA from SMU. Tom was a Commissioned Officer in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps. His wife of 49 years, Kay, was a Naval Nurse Officer. They were stationed together on Midway Island in the Pacific.

Tom’s 28-year management career with ALCOA Aluminum focused on international business development and the re-engineering of underperforming businesses. During this time, Tom and his family lived in Brazil, Germany, and China.

After retirement from ALCOA, Tom started a packaging consulting company, SharpCOM. Then he created another start-up, SharpRENT, which owned a portfolio of executive homes for corporate expatriate families living in Indianapolis.

Tom also served as Commissioner of Indiana Department of Transportation where he initiated and directed the re-engineering of the 5000-employee agency and the leasing of the Indiana Toll Road to fund a 10year highway plan. As Commissioner of Indiana’s Highways, he moved on to developing and communicating the 10-year statewide highway plan. Tom Sharp currently Co-Chairs the CSA Traffic Task Force to alleviate congestion and improve safety on Greenwood Drive and the Sea Pines Circle.
