Class “A” Residential Board Member
In 2018, James Kaskie was appointed and subsequently elected Vice Chair of the Board governing the Sea Pines Community Services Association, a not-for-profit organization that oversees the many operations and activities across the Sea Pines Community.
Kaskie earned a Master of Health Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degrees from St. Louis University; a master’s in business administration with a concentration in Finance from Xavier University Cincinnati; and a Master of Theology from Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis.
Kaskie began his career in health service administration in 1976. Over the next forty years, he served as an executive in numerous hospitals and health systems in various markets. His last full-time position was as President and Chief Executive Officer of Kaleida Health, Western New York’s largest health care provider consisting of five hospitals, four long term care facilities, a large home care company, a physician division and over 90 ambulatory sites.
James was also named the inaugural President and Chief Executive Officer of Great Lakes Health, a newly formed collaborative governance model that aligned the interests of Kaleida Health, Erie County Medical Center, University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biosciences, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Buffalo. In that role, Kaskie led the creation of four centers of excellence consolidating duplicative programs, advanced the residency and fellowship programs for over 600 physicians in training, aligned 13,000 employees and 2,000 physical partners to improve services and access for the community. In addition, Kaskie forged an innovative joint venture partnership with the region’s largest payer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Western New York, creating a fully licensed insurance product.
James achieved numerous recognitions and awards during his career and served on numerous Boards of hospitals, health systems, a college, a high school, and other not for profit community organizations. He served as Chair of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) Board, being the first chair elected from outside the NYC metro area.
Kaskie also served as Chairperson of GNYHA Ventures, Inc., a $500M services company. Kaskie retired from full time employment in 2014 and became a founding partner of Medically Home, an in-home technology-driven care system. Furthermore, Kaskie served for six years on the Board of Connecticut based Hartford Health Care, a $4B regional health system.
James and his wife Jane, an Artist, are natives of St. Louis and now reside full time in Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. They have a son Christopher who lives in Chicago with his wife and two children and a daughter Martha who lives in London with her husband and three boys.
Kaskie enjoys his time with his wife Jane, his family and many activities including travel, music, dogs, drums, golf, gardening, cooking, biking, movies and serials, photography, and studying history.
