Sea Pines Dunes Renourishment Project

As stated in previous communications, CSA is working with the Town of Hilton Head Island and also the owner of the Beach Trust strand located in Sea Pines, The Sea Pines Forest Preserve on the potential program for a dune renourishment for select beachfront areas in Sea Pines following Hurricane Matthew. The first of many community meetings was held on Tuesday December 20th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Sea Pines Community Center. View meeting video here.

-Emergency sand scrapping has already occurred in the area between Marsh Wren to Surf Scoter due to Hurricane Matthew.
-Town of HHI is working to secure a contractor for proposed emergency beach/ dune renourishment between Bald Eagle and South Beach Lagoon area of Sea Pines. The timing of this project is not yet confirmed and is contingent on permitting and the Town securing a contractor.


Additional Reminders
-Until the full project plan/ requirements are determined it is recommended that ALL beachfront property owners make only temporary repairs to restore safe access to the beach from their private property due to the many unknowns of specifics, scope and timing of dune restoration projects along the beach in Sea Pines.
– The Sea Pines Forest Preserve Foundation Beach Trust Policy states that if boardwalks are destroyed or deemed to be a safety hazard, the structure shall not be rebuilt without the Foundation’s advance approval and issuance of an encroachment agreement. Due to the many unknowns of specifics, scope and timing of dune restoration projects along the beach in Sea Pines, the Foundation is currently NOT issuing any encroachment agreements at this time.
