Hurricane Matthew caused significant tree damage in the 50 acre Audubon Newhall Preserve. Audubon Newhall Preserve is located in the Club Course Area and is accessed off Palmetto Bay Road. This area is not managed by Community Services Associates, it is owned and managed by the Hilton Head Island Audubon Society. A salvage harvest began in Audubon Newhall Preserve approximately 2.5 weeks ago to mitigate hazards, restore accessibility and reduce the potential for a destructive pine beetle outbreak next summer.

However due to excessive ground saturation from recent inclement weather this project has been postponed and will convene at a later date. CSA will communicate the new start date once we receive it from the Hilton Head Island Audubon Society.
