Candidate Name: William "Bill" R. Johnson
Running For: CSA & ASPPPO Board
Candidate Category: Candidate by Nominating Committee
My wife Susan and I have been Sea Pines property owners for over 13 years. Most of my career was spent in Kansas City as an owner/operator of radio stations which taught me the need to understand the public’s interests.
That experience also made me a more strategically minded successful entrepreneur; understanding how to facilitate delivering effective and targeted results; bringing diverse entities to consensus without compromising the overall objective. Kansas City civic activities included:
- Greater Kansas Community Foundation - Board of Directors
-Kansas City Port Authority - Chairman
-Economic Development Corporation - Executive Board of Directors
Why I Wish To Serve Sea Pines:
Two years ago I ran for the CSA and ASPPPO Board of Directors. I was fortunate to have lost because I now understand I wasn’t prepared to serve the Sea Pines Community to the degree property owners deserve. Today, I am ready. Over the past 24 months I’ve served on numerous CSA committees and task forces, becoming profoundly aware of what issues we face including how we can effectively improve our community while working within the Sea Pines covenants. To my knowledge, no other non-incumbent candidate has more community service or understanding of the needs than I.
Sea Pines Experience
- President and a board member of Schooner Court for over 10 years.
- CSA Marketing Task Force
- Co-Chairman of the CSA Short Term Rental Committee
- Residential member of the Gate Entry Committee
- Co-Chair of the Gate Entry Fee Task Force
- Long Range Strategic Planning Committee
- Chair of the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee’s Transportation Task Force
Sea Pines has many challenges and opportunities ahead. We need the leadership and stewardship experience which I have to meet these challenges and help Sea Pines move forward in an appropriate and timely manner. Your responsibility is to vote for the best candidate - I hope you recognize that I am uniquely qualified.
Questions From The Community:
In preparation for the upcoming Board of Director elections for CSA and ASPPPO, the Nominating Committees of each of these Boards asked Sea Pines Property Owners for candidate questions in advance.
61 questions were submitted to the Nominating Committees of CSA and ASPPPO to be asked of the board candidates. Questions were grouped into six categories, Personal, General, Finance/ Revenue, Gate, Governance and Referendum. Please note that only the questions from the community are included to be asked of the candidates. Opinions, statements, dissertations or preambles or other comments included by a property owner were removed so that the candidate could address the question. Some statements had to be modified to appear in the form of a question.
Each candidate received the same list of questions and was able to provide their summary related to each of the six categories.
