Candidate Name: James N. (JR) Richardson, Jr.
Running For: CSA & ASPPPO Board

Office phone: (843) 686-6929
James N. (JR) Richardson, Jr. is Chairman and CEO of The Richardson Group whose holdings include Coligny Plaza, Windmill Harbour Company, the South Carolina Yacht Club, Windmill Harbour Real Estate, Local Pie Hilton Head Island and Bluffton and Fish Seafood and Raw Bar. Mr. Richardson is one of the Founders of Coastal South Bankshares, Inc. and has served as a member of their Board of Directors since 2003.
Mr. Richardson has always felt the altruistic need to give back to his community. Some recent and past volunteerism includes Chairman of the HHI Community Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Hilton Head Preparatory School, Chairman of YPO Gold Southern 7 Chapter for World President’s Organization, Chairman Sea Pines ARB, Director of Sea Pines CSA, Director of the Association of Sea Pines Plantation Property Owners, the Mayor’s Task Force, the South Island Public Service Commission, Director and past President of the HHI Multiple Listing Board, the Foundation Board of MUSC and Spoleto Festival USA’s Board of Directors. Annually, he mentors a group of students from Clemson University’s Master of Real Estate Development.
Why I Wish To Serve Sea Pines:
I would like to serve on the Board because I believe I bring institutional memory and historical knowledge of Sea Pines Plantation. I have lived on the Island for over 60 years; 43 of those being in Sea Pines. As Sea Pines was being developed, I was a student of Charles Fraser’s learning how good development brings a community to life. I am an active listener, like to get the facts and make decisions based on the information given to me. I feel our Sea Pines Community, after fifty years and our most recent hurricanes, is somewhat tired and believe we need to polish our jewel.
Questions From The Community:
In preparation for the upcoming Board of Director elections for CSA and ASPPPO, the Nominating Committees of each of these Boards asked Sea Pines Property Owners for candidate questions in advance.
61 questions were submitted to the Nominating Committees of CSA and ASPPPO to be asked of the board candidates. Questions were grouped into six categories, Personal, General, Finance/ Revenue, Gate, Governance and Referendum. Please note that only the questions from the community are included to be asked of the candidates. Opinions, statements, dissertations or preambles or other comments included by a property owner were removed so that the candidate could address the question. Some statements had to be modified to appear in the form of a question.
Each candidate received the same list of questions and was able to provide their summary related to each of the six categories.
