Born in Pittsburgh Tom is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Columbia University (MBA). After almost seven years on active duty, as a helicopter pilot and naval officer, he joined Pfizer where he was employed over twenty-six years until retiring in 2013. Upon completion of active service, he transitioned into the Naval Reserves serving until retiring as a Commander in 1999. During active and reserve service, his deployments took him around the world building an even greater appreciation for our country and the vital mission of the Navy. At Pfizer, his roles evolved and expanded, finishing as Vice-President of a team providing account management, customer services, marketing and inventory management capabilities for Pfizer’s U.S. pharmaceuticals businesses and customers. Tom and Robin, his wife of thirty-five years, have two adult children in the Washington, D.C. area and have owned (timeshare, lot, condo, house) in Sea Pines since the 1980s.
Why I Wish To Serve Sea Pines:
The weather, natural beauty, expansive beaches, amenities, and how the community blended into the surroundings attracted us to Sea Pines. Discussions have been ongoing that could significantly alter our community but do not adequately address the governance and long term financial stability of our community. Additionally, key issues such as traffic have reached a critical phase. Businesses need to constantly improve to meet competition, but resident’s need better solutions to maintain the distinctive ambience that defines Sea Pines. At Pfizer, I was deeply involved with many successful mergers and was charged with finding viable options that matched the needs of both customers and businesses. I have spent much of my life in service, Habitat for Humanity since 2007 and to our country as a Naval Officer. I would like to use these skills and my passion for helping others to represent resident’s needs.
Questions From The Community:
In preparation for the upcoming Board of Director elections for CSA and ASPPPO, the Nominating Committees of each of these Boards asked Sea Pines Property Owners for candidate questions in advance.
61 questions were submitted to the Nominating Committees of CSA and ASPPPO to be asked of the board candidates. Questions were grouped into six categories, Personal, General, Finance/ Revenue, Gate, Governance and Referendum. Please note that only the questions from the community are included to be asked of the candidates. Opinions, statements, dissertations or preambles or other comments included by a property owner were removed so that the candidate could address the question. Some statements had to be modified to appear in the form of a question.
Each candidate received the same list of questions and was able to provide their summary related to each of the six categories.
