Beaufort County Shredding Event
The Beaufort County Public Works Department Solid Waste and Recycling Section has organized a secure document shredding event for County residents on Saturday, June 6. The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (or truck containers are full) at the Public Works South site located at 9 Benton Field Road in Bluffton.
  • To limit personal contact and protection against coronavirus, please STAY IN YOUR CAR during the event. Staff will unload bags and boxes and will use personal protection equipment (masks and gloves).
  • Individuals will be limited to disposing of no more than four boxes or bags.
  • Any types or colors of paper, file folders or envelopes are acceptable. Staples or paper clips do not need to be removed. Materials can be brought in any container or bag and will be emptied into roll carts for immediate shredding.
  • Only residential quantities will be accepted. No materials from commercial businesses will be accepted. No electronics will be collected at this event.

Beaufort County Statewide Primary Election
The June 9 Statewide Primaries and June 23 Runoffs are set to proceed as
scheduled. The South Carolina Election Commission has no authority to delay the
primaries or deviate from current law in conducting elections. However, in Beaufort
County, there will be no Democratic Party Primary as there is no opposition for the
Democratic Party nomination for offices in this county. Voting options remain
unchanged. Voters should prepare now to exercise their right to vote by choosing
the best option for them.
Additional voting options include:
  • Vote by Mail-applications are available now.
  • In-person absentee voting is available at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County’s main office, 15 John Galt Road, Beaufort, and at the Bluffton Satellite office, 61B Ulmer Road, Bluffton.
Elections officials are taking steps to protect the health of voters and poll managers. Elections Staff will have personal protection equipment and sanitizing wipes for all voting machines, which will be spaced apart to meet guidelines.
